What’s included?
x2 sheets (x10 picture and x10 word cards), portrait orientation, pdf format.
What’s it for?
This phonics activity enables learners to sound out graphemes to read simple simple words (all contain the ‘e’ sound) to match with the corresponding picture. This set has been designed to be a simple, predictable activity to promote independence and consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for groups/individuals to be getting on with independently.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
How to use it?
An adult needs to print and pre-cut the cards into rectangles (dotted lines guide where to cut).
The set of cards can be placed on a carpet/table top. Learners read each word by sounding out the individual graphemes featured, they then match each word to the picture from this set. Phoneme ‘dots’ have been included under every grapheme so that learners know how many sounds to say as they sound out the words.
Resource Details…
The words/pictures included use phonemes/graphemes from Phases 2 and 3 but mainly Phase 2. In the orange set only ‘w’ and ‘y’ are phase 3 sounds.
Orange (Set e) words included - peg/bell/hen/red/bed/dress/web/ten/yes/pen
Sets a/i/o/u are also available. Each set is a different colour to avoid cards becoming mixed and to help finding a relevant matching card easier.
Suggestion
Print this resource onto card (and laminate) to improve durability. Card sets (alone or more than one together) can be used to play games e.g. ‘pairs’.

What’s included?
This download includes x2 resources which have been designed to use separately AND together. There are x25 pdf sheets.
What’s it for?
This download includes two activities which can be used together. These resources enable learners to use their knowledge of the sounds s a t p i n to match graphemes with the corresponding picture AND word (resource 1). Once these ‘sound/word/picture’ jigsaw puzzles have been completed learners can use their knowledge of Phase 2/3 sounds to write these words (resource 2).
Who’s it for?
This resource set has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource 1
’Grapheme/word/picture’ match puzzles
There are x10 images for the sounds s/a/t/p and x5 images for letters ‘i’ and ’n’.
The tick in each jigsaw puzzle picture box (top right) indicates that this image is a word which can be sounded out. Once they have matched all the three-part jigsaw puzzles learners can write these words (resource 2).
How to use it?
An adult prints out ‘Grapheme/picture match puzzles’ sheet onto card and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate ‘letters/graphemes’ from ‘words’ and ‘pictures’. The set of cut up letters/words/pictures can then be placed on a table top for learners to match as ‘three part’ mini jigsaw puzzles. Each letter only fits the corresponding word and picture.

Resource 2
Writing words resource
Two differentiated ‘writing words’ sheets are included. Page 1 provides more support for learners than page 2 as page 1 includes the number of lines to write on - showing how many sounds are in each word. Page 2 has one line for each word.
Pages 1-2. Learners sound out and write the words for the pictures featured on the sheet, one picture per box.
Red letters/lines (to write on) indicate a ‘tricky’ sound which may be difficult to hear clearly when the word is spoken. E.g. ‘planets’ is often said as ‘planits’ with an ‘i’ sound. Learners may need help with these (red) letters/sounds.
Page 3 clearly shows the answers.

What’s included?
This download includes one A4, pdf sheet (portrait orientation) to practise handwriting numerals 0 to 10.
What’s it for?
This resource has been designed to break down each step involved in writing these eleven numerals correctly, using green (go!) ‘starting dots’ and red ‘stop dots’ to make it clear to learners exactly where to begin and end writing. Colour coded arrows guide learners on which direction to follow. This resource should help in providing some focused additional support looking at these numerals more closely for those pupils who need a greater level of support and maybe find it harder to remember which direction to follow.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource details
The font used is Sassoon Infant Std - size 150.
This activity has been designed to write straight on. The start and stop dots make it clear where learners place their pencil to begin/where to end and dotted lines on top of letters provide guidance of exactly which direction to write.
There is a clear space for learners to write their name on the line at the base of the sheet and a clear space to record the number-date at the top of the sheet - helpful to keep sheets and track progress (and improvement!) over time.

What’s included?
This download includes two A4, portrait pdf sheet to practise ordering the x26 (uppercase/capital) letters of the alphabet. Dotted lines guide where to cut and a snake outline is provided to place and stick the letters (in order) once complete.
What’s it for?
This alphabet snake activity encourages learners to order the (uppercase) letters of the alphabet, starting with A at the snake’s head and the following the twisty body S shape down to the tail, ending with Z. This activity helps learners explore ordering the letters of the alphabet as well as recognising each uppercase/capital letter. A lowercase letter and number (to 25) snake are also available.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource Details
The layout includes x2 pages.
Page 1 shows the alphabet letters in the correct order and position. Dotted lines are provided guiding where to cut - both around the outline of the snake and between each letter to separate them.
Page 2 shows an outline of the snake shape to support learners with where to position and stick them once complete. To make this puzzle ‘more’ challenging a ‘blank’ sheet of A4 paper could be provided for each learner.
Important message…
ANY issues with this alphabet snake please don’t hesitate to let us know - we are happy to make changes.
What’s included?
Includes ALL x26 alphabet letters with the same colour (grey) outline - so sets can be used in any combination - mix and match which letters/sounds to focus on depending on the needs of your learner/s. This download includes x22 pdfs, portrait and in colour each featuring five/ten images that all begin with one sound - a b c d e/o f g h i/u j k l m n p q r s t v/y w x/z. Letter ‘x’ is the only exception where the x sound is at the end of those words/images.
What’s included?
This download includes x22 pdfs, portrait in colour each featuring ten/five images that all begin with one sound for learners to match - the grapheme and the image with that initial sound.
What’s it for?
This resource is to enable learners to practise identifying the first (initial) sound (phoneme) of objects (images) and match these with the correct, matching letter (grapheme).
Letters have been grouped into coloured sets (red, orange, yellow, green and blue - also available in my TES shop). However, this black and white (grey) set enables adults to focus on the sets learners need additional exposure to.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support, revisiting any/all of these sounds.
How to use it?
An adult prints the letter sheets (that are required) out (ideally onto card) and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate the ‘letters’ from the ‘images’. Instructions are included on each sheet itself. These pieces (images and letters) can then be placed on a table top for learners to match. Learners are to match the image with the correct initial letter sound as a two part mini jigsaw puzzle. Each letter only fits the images which have the same initial letter (except x where learners match the end/final sound).
This is a fun and engaging way to practise recognising these letters and identifying the correct initial letter (phonics) sound for five/ten images (per letter).
Resource Details
The images chosen all have a clear initial letter sound at the beginning but are not words which can easily be sounded out. The focus of this activity is purely to identify the initial letter sound for these images - the cross (top right of each image) indicates that these images are not for sounding out.
A sound-out-able (!) version of this ‘Alphabet Match’ activity (with matching worksheets) for every letter (using Phase 2 and 3 sounds only) is available.
The layout of every letter/sound in this set is in the same format, making this a predictable and structured activity, ideal to keep learners engaged and independent. This is a fun and engaging way to practise recognising these letters and identifying the correct initial letter (phonics) sound for ten (or five) images (per letter).

Once the segments of each picture/word puzzle are completed each of the x9 words can be read. The completed ‘picture puzzles’ can be used as a reference to complete the missing words for x9 sentences (pages 3-5).
Writing words/reading sentences
Pages 3-6
There are two versions of the same x9 sentences to complete, each has a missing word with a clear space for each of the missing letters (graphemes) to be written. A larger format version of the sentences set out individually (pages 3 and 4) which can be cut up (perhaps laminated) and written on (if laminated - with a dry wipe/wipe clean pen).

What’s included?
x4 sheets (activities and answers) for Phase 2 Set 1 (letters - m d g o c k). Portrait orientation, pdf format.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as students needing additional learning support.
What’s it for?
This activity set has been designed to practise and reinforce the first six sounds in Phase 2 - s a t p i n AND m d g o c k. Learners sound out the words on the ‘word cards’ and match these to the images on the ‘picture cards’. Answers are clearly presented on pages 3 and 4 for quick easy reference - encouraging learners to be autonomous
How to use it?
The adult can pre-cut the x16 rectangular shaped picture cards (x8) and word cards (x8) (pages 1 and 2). Grey dotted lines guide where to cut. These x16 cards can then be shuffled and placed on a table top for learners to read and match.
Resource Details…
The words on the word cards only use the letters/sounds s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k
These words are: - dog, map, pig, cap, pot, mat, pod, cogs
Learners may find ‘pod’, ‘cogs’ and ‘mat’ more tricky to match as these three words are not as obvious/may be ‘new’ concepts to learners, encouraging learners to think a bit more about the meaning of the words on the cards. E.g. some learners may not know that a ‘pea’ grows inside of a ‘pod’. Learners may not know/be familiar with ‘cogs’ (or know they are called) and learners may confuse ‘cat’ with ‘mat’. I have included an orange arrow pointing to the ‘mat’ to help make this clearer.

Learners may find ‘snip’, snap’, ’spin’ and ‘sit’ more tricky to match as these four cards do not link directly to a noun picture card. ‘Snap’ links to a ‘crocodile’, ‘snip’ to ‘scissors’, ’spin’ to a ‘globe’ and ‘sit’ to the cat which is ‘sitting’ on a chair - encouraging learners to think a bit more about the meaning of the words on the cards.

What’s included?
This download includes x5 pdfs, portrait in colour each featuring ten images that all begin with one sound - c, f, k, s, t
What’s it for?
This resource is to enable learners to practise identifying the first (initial) sound (phoneme) of objects (images) and match these with the correct, matching letter (grapheme).
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support, revisiting any/all of these sounds.
How to use it?
An adult prints each sheet out (ideally onto card) and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate the ‘letters’ from the ‘images’ (instructions are included on each sheet itself). These pieces (images and letters) can then be placed on a table top for learners to match - the image with the matching/correct initial letter sound as a two part mini jigsaw puzzle. Each letter only fits the images which have the same initial letter.
This is a fun and engaging way to practise recognising these letters and identifying the correct initial letter (phonics) sound for ten images (per letter).
Resource Details
The images chosen all have a clear initial letter sound at the beginning but are not words which can easily be sounded out. The focus of this activity is purely to identify the initial letter sound for these images - the cross (top right of each image) indicates that these images are not to be sounded out.
I have grouped the letters of the alphabet together. This sheet is part of the ‘Yellow Set’ and designed to be used with letters c, f, k, s, t. Exploring this set together gives learners the opportunity to become more familiar with these letters by looking at them more closely. Other sets in this same design are available.
The layout of every letter/sound in this set is in the same format, making this a predictable and structured activity, ideal to keep learners engaged and independent.

What’s included?
This download includes x5 pdfs, portrait in colour each featuring ten images that all begin with one sound - h, l, m, n, r.
I have grouped the letters of the alphabet together. This sheet is part of the ‘Green Set’ and designed to be used with letters h, l, m, n, r. Exploring this set together gives learners the opportunity to become more familiar with these letters by looking at them more closely. Other sets in this same design are coming.
This is a fun and engaging way to practise recognising these letters and identifying the correct initial letter (phonics) sound for ten images (per letter).

What’s included?
This download includes x4 pdfs, portrait, in colour each featuring ten/five images that all begin with one sound - j, v, w, x, y, z.
Images for ‘x’ do NOT ‘begin’ with ‘x’ ! I have researched words beginning with ‘x’ and none have a clear initial ‘x’ sound, therefore for all ‘x’ images the ‘x’ sound is at the END of these words. X is the ONLY letter where the sound is at the end.

I have grouped the letters of the alphabet together. This sheet is part of the ‘Orange Set’ and designed to be used with letters b, d, g, p and q. I have grouped these letters of the alphabet together according to their similar ‘shape’ and as I know confusing b and d can be a common issue for learners. What’s included?
This download includes one A4, portrait pdf sheet to practise recognising the letters and order of the alphabet.
What’s it for?
This alphabet wheel has been designed to be an interactive way for learners to practise saying the sound of each letter of the alphabet. Learners turn the wheel, say what the picture is showing e.g. ‘monkey’ then the initial sound for that picture - ‘mmm’. As they turn the wheel learners may be able to predict which sound will be next (depending on how well they know the order of the alphabet). For a challenge learners could turn the wheel anticlockwise and see if they can recall the alphabet sounds backwards!
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource Details
Dotted lines guide where to cut and where to create a hole. This resource will need to be printed onto card (or if printed on paper, glued to card afterwards) to ensure it is sturdy enough to be used by little hands. A single split pin is needed for this resource.
The layout includes x2 wheels, one for the ‘front’ (wheel 1) and one for the back - with the alphabet images on (wheel 2). Once assembled (according to instructions included on the pdf) the alphabet wheel can be turned to reveal one easy to recognise image at a time for every letter of the alphabet - in order (if wheel 1 is turned clockwise).
